It seems there is an outbreak of stupidity

On “it seems the outbreak of stupidity is growing”…
Well, it may appear that way, but I don’t think so. It’s hardly an ‘outbreak’ of stupidity, rather I would contend it has always been. It’s not about what people think, it’s about how. To put it roughly some like the box, it’s order free from chaos, giving stability, continuity – the reasons for the box – and its very existence often including the mythical. Those who like the box see it as the foundation of everything, the only path of existence and justify everything based on this belief. Others are vexed by the box, question it’s reason, its very existence and rail against its arbitrariness, feeling restricted if not imprisoned by its logic, believing in many other alternatives. This is on multiple levels, on multiple subjects, from the minute to the grand, basic to complicated, from the powerless to the powerful. And the people who like the box are confused and perplexed by those who don’t, in the same way those who question the box are confused and perplexed by those who do like the box. How the two think about the box is almost fundamentally different, and so, too, their relationship to it and the lengths they will go to either maintain it or change it. Of course, this is not merely a simple dichotomy. There are plenty of degrees of belonging to either of these positions depending on individual personalities and dispositions, thoughts on how much to maintain or change, tolerance of ambiguity, acceptance of one’s position or station in life. And it would appear people are hardwired by their DNA to gravitate to or are repelled by the box, then becoming consumed in justifying their natural propensities to other people and their natural propensities. Navigating the box is complicated, frightening to some and fraught with danger.
